It was recently stated in tho House of Commons that all marine underwriters at Lloyd’s Institute of London Underwriters and the Liverpool Underwriters’ Associations had voluntarily agreed hot to underwrite consignments of arms for China.
Many underwriters in other countries have adopted a similar policy, including, it is learned, Polish transport and insurance companies, underwriters at Rotterdam and Amsterdam and the French Union des Syndicates do Compagnies d’Assurance Contre Risque de Transport. OLYMPIAD. PADDOCK’S STATUS. AMSTERDAM, July 27. The International Olympic Committee held a special meeting to consider a published allegation concerning the amateur status of the American sprinter, Paddock. Subsequently a formal statement' was issued that the Committee had received no protest against Paddock’s qualification.
