(By Telegraph—Per Press Associatiou.) THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, July 25. Tlie Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Orchard and Garden Disease Bill- was introduced from the House and read a first time and second time pro forma, and referred to the Agriculture and Pastoral Committee. Replying to Hon Newman, Sir F. D. Bell said the Government had decided to permit the introduction of Angora and Chinchilla rabbits So long as the animals were kept in close confinement and subject to certain safeguards to prevent the introduction of disease. British Nationality and Status of Aliens Bill was read a first time. Hon Barr was unanimously re-elect-ed Chairman of the Committees. / The Council adjourned at 4 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. to-morrow. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The Music Teachers’ Registration Bill (Sir J. Luke) and Workers’ Compensation Amendment Bill (Mr Howard) were introduced and read a first time. SUMMER-TIME BILL DEFEATED. Mr Sidey moved tho second reading of the Summer Time Bill, and after a debate of some hours, the second reading was defeated by 33—28. The House rose at 12.30 p.m. till 3.15 p.m.
