(United Press Association.—By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright.) JAVA SUGAR POOL. WELTEVOREDEN, July 25. The Sugar Producers’ Pool here has decided to stock the crop for 1928 on the growers’ estates. The pool has. refused to accept 4282 pence per ton for superior sugar. The pool is now much criticised for not selling earlier, when a higher rate prevailed. Some of the Chinese sugar factories havejoined a union of employers in the sugar industry. A Dutch company has. re-bought a Japanese sugar factory in East Java.
BIG WAGE CUT. LONDON, July 25. At a meeting of the Railway Unions to consider the companies’ proposals to check their falling revenue, Mr Bromley, representing the Locomotive Section of the workers, gathered up hi» papers and withdrew from the meeting. The companies are asking for the withdrawal of the remaining war bonues, also tlie cancellation of payment for overtime, for night duty, for Sunday duty, also tlie temporary suspension of guaranteed days per week in return for a guarantee embracing all time. It is understood that the unions will not accept the proposals. EGYPTIAN AFFAIRS. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, July 25.
