(Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, July 21. Mrs Ellen Terry had a peaceful end 'in her .simple cottage home near Pentorden, Kent. Quite recently she has been enjoying tlie sunshine in her tiny garden she loved. Then she had a heart attack on Tuesday, and gradually weakened. The whole nation tributes one representing all that was best in English womanhood but there will be no mourning, for this, was her own wish; expressed' on a fly-leaf of Thomas-A. Kompsis’ “Imitation of Christ,” the last book she read. Here were found a few touching little sentences in her own writing:—“No-funeral gloom, m,v dears, when i am gone. Think of me as withdrawn into the dimness of vears. Still you are mine, and remember all tho best and forgot tho rest.” Hence the simplest service is being arranged in the village church on Tuesday, and thence for cremation. The ashes will be laid in St. Paul’s Church. Covent Garden, where- she often worshipped. The King and Queen sent messages. Edith Craig was grieved to hear of tho death of Miss Terry, who will he ; mourned by thousands who had known and loved her art. ; r ,
