(Australian Press Association.) NOBILE DEFENDED. WELLINGTON, July 18. The Italian Consul, Signor M. Blunno, referring to the cabled criticism ,of Nobile, said that certain sections of the world’s press had not accorded Nobile fair recognition. He drew attention to Nobile’s worth as an engineer, and as leader of the Italia. The expedition was but one part of a great movement to celebrate Italy’s triumph over Austria in the Great War. The advancement of science, however, was the main object of the expedition. Signor Blunno expressed deep regret that Halmgrem should have lost his. life. • AMUNDSEN’S FATE. - • LONDON, July 19. French fliers consider that Amundsen is still possibly alive. Russia intends to continue the search for him.
