After protracted trials the B.S.A. -Thompson rifle won the British Gov- ‘ ernment’s three thousand sterling prize 1 for a satisfactory self-loading rifle, snys the "Daily News.” It is of simple construction and easy to handle, enabling thirty-five shots per minute to he fired, which is almost twice as many as the present hand operated rifle. It is also more accurate in shooting. It is claimed that backed up with the modern machine gun, the new rifle will be sufficient to meet any reouirements of modern battle tactics.
