WELLINGTON, July 14
The Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting concluded at-Trentham to-day in fine, bright weather, with a very large attendance. The course was sticky after a heavy frost. Beau Cavalier won the Winter Hurdles from end to end. The tote took £68,978, as against last year’s third day total of £66,395), the total for the meeting being £157,300, compared with last year’s £147,973, an increase of £9,327. Results:—
Talavera Hurdles.—(l3) Olympic 1, (10) Lady Gay 2, (3) Erin-Go-Bragh 3. Won by two lengths; one length. Time 3.1). ' -
Novice Handicap.—(s) Historic 1, (1) Consent 2, (6) Versuese 3. Won by a head; five lengths. Time 1.19. Crofton Handicap.—(4) Gold Lure 1, (9) Tori 2, (12) Grand National 3. Won by a length; one length. Time 1.37.
Winter Hurdles.—(2) Beau Cavalier 1, (3) Red Fuchsia 2, (4) Gaze 3. Won by six lengths; four lengths. Time 1.33.
Winter Oats.—(4) Fairy Herald 1, (8) Queen Arch 2, (10) Kilmiss 3. Won by five lengths; three lengths. Time 1.50.
July Steeplechase.—(2) Kawini 1, (4) Tuld 2, (3) Matu 3. Won by half a length ; one length. Time 6.48. Onslow Handicap.—(2) Duke Abbey 1, (4) Clielone 2, (1) King Lu 3. Won hv a head; two lengths. Time 1.18). Ivai Ora Handicap.—(2) Callanmore 1, (6) Meadowlark 2, (3) Mark Mint 3. Won by two lengths; one length. Time 1.51.
VICTORIAN NATIONAL HURDLES. MELBOURNE, July 15. The Grand National Steeplechase resulted : Nnmern 10.1 (Warner) 1 Nyangav 11.7 (Mclnnes) 2 Oral Treaty 9.3 (Tait) 3 Twelve horses started. Nainera won by half a neek; Oral Treaty four lengths away, third.' Time 6.114, a course record. The Doutta Galla Hurdles resulted : Valbee 1, Henare 2, Nobility 3. Won bv half a length. Time 4.10).
