Ho requires no explanation ; besetting difficulties are guessed at, and by means of his magic* wand, worries vanish. Even if the puzzling problems are not all solved, the consciousness of not being alone to face them imparts renewed strength. The true friend knows us through and through; our good points are appreciated, and though our shortcomings are not hidden from him his affection is of such stout, resisting, yet yielding fibre that in his magnanimous estimation, our qualities always outweigh our defects.
