Essex first innings 224 (Bray 75, O’Cbnnor 64, Boyeis 5 for 44); followed on, 325 for 8 (Nichols 112, Raison 57). Hampshire won on the first innings. Yorkshire, first innings 284 (Sutcliffe 98, Barber 98, Francis 4 for 65); second innings 172 for 1 declared (Holmes not out 84, Mitchell not out 51). West Indies first innings 208 (Constantine 69, Martin 60) ; second innings 58 (Alccaulav 6 for 30). Yorkshire won by 190 runs.

not outs, with 1518 runs, an average of 54,33. Afead 22 Innings, 4 not outs, 1439 runs, average 75.35. Bowling:—Larwood 10S8 runs for 70 wickets, average 15.54; A. P. Freeman, 2356 runs for 149 wickets, average 16.1.
