In the test-cricket, England won by an innings and 58 runs. England first innings 401; West Indies first innings 177; second 166 (Small 52, Brown 44). Freeman took 4 for 37.

It is understood .that the All England team in the test trial will be secretly requested to hold themselves in readiness to make the Australian trip. This is the same team, with the substitution of Jardine for Hobbs, which dismissed the West Indies virtually twice at Lords.
