HAWKE’S BAY RACES. HASTINGS, June 22. The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club steeplechase meeting opened in fine but bitterly cold weather, course fair, attendance fair. Woodlands Steeples—(l) Rangi Sarto 1, (2) Radiate 2, (3) Matu 3. All started. Won by a head; four lengths. Time 4.26 3-5. Whakatu Hurdles— (2) Atereria 1, (l) Patuki 2, (3) Our Jack 3. All started. Won by one and a half lengths; four lengths. Time 3.32. Hawke’s Bay Hurdles—(4) Gaze 1. (3) Ballyfarnon 2, (2) Troilius 3. All started. Won by four lengths; three lengths. Time 3.25 2-5. Braeman fell at the last hurdle.
ASCOT GOLD CUP LONDON, June 21. Ascot Gold Cup—lnverssin 1, Finglas 2, Cinquasept 3. Ten started. Won b>v a length.
