(Received this day at 9.30 a.m). SHANGHAI, June IS. Three eastern provinces for many years governed by Changtsolin and virtually a Japanese colony, are about to he surrendered to the Nationalists. The latest report from the north states Manchurian war lords, realising they are unable to hold out longer from the Nationalists are reported to have expressed a willingness to discuss terms.
Peking and Tientsin are quiet. The change of regime was effected with a minimum of disturbance. Nationalists are proceeding to fill administrative positions with their own officers. The posts have been deserted by Northerners for nearly a fortnight.
