Jinnny Kellen, fourteen, soared fiftyfeet in the air in a plane of his own invention, after two years’ efforts. Hie machine landed in Red River and Kellen was fished out alive by the Fire Brigade. The engine was built of material taken piecemeal from a Ford car scrap heap. (United Service.) FRENCH AIRMEN CRASH, PARIS, June 14. Twenty-one bombing planes were night Hying from Nancy to Le Bo urge t, when between midnight and 3 a.m. a sudden" storm struck the formation in the neighbourhood of Paris, and only four reached Le Bourget; a fifth, carrying four, crashed at the edge of the aerodrome, but tbo occupants were injured. A twin motor plane capsized on landing near Manx. The machine was destroyed and the crew escaped. Lieut. Pickards’ plane overturned. His pilot had to parachute and descended safely. Pickard had no parachute, and had to remain in the machine which crashed and he was killed. Four planes were damaged when landing, towards Beauvais, Chantilly.

King George audieneed Wilkins at Buckingham Palace and conferred his Knighthood on him. KINGSFORD SMITH’S INVITATION MELBOURNE, June 15. Captain Kingston! Smith has invited Warner and Lyon to accompany him on his New Zealand flight. Lyon being anxious to return to the United States, they are withholding their decisions to see whether any Australians volunteer for the honour.
