A letter received by the Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association from Hon Hawken, states that Government has under consideration the question of permitting the importation under very stringent safeguards, of stud stock from Great Britain, where energetic measures arc being taken to endeavour to eradicate foot and mouth disease. Heavy slips came down on the East Coast road cutting off communication with Tokomnru Bay. MAORI GIRLS IN COURT. Two Maori girls, aged 13 and 17, were admitted to the Child AAclfaie Court because they had wilfully burned the five-roomed house at Ruatoria belonging to the father of the younger girl. Tlie Magistrate committed the younger girl to the care of the Child Welfare Department, and the elder being admitted to probation. OILFIELDS REPORT. GISBORNE. June 12. The Taranaki oilfields report the Gisborne No. 1 well was drilled to 3009 feet in lino running sand .and sticky shale, in which six and a-quar-ter inch diameter casing is set, now preparing to run four and a half inch ."diameter casing.
