CHRISTCHURCH MYSTERY
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 7. 'I lie inquest into the death of Emily -Martha Forward, aged 21, found dead in a hath at North Beach, New Brighton, yesterday, was opened. Irene Passmore, a married woman, gave evidence of having visited the liach and found the body, which she identified. She knew Emily Fonvnny, who had lived at the bach for some time. She last saw her about three months ago. The Coroner: “Bo you know why she went there?” ~ Witness: “Yes. She couldn’t keep her position, because she was expecting to become a mother, and she had not been too well. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
THE TAXf-DRI VER. LONG INTERVIEW WITH POLICE. CHRISTCHURCH, June 7. The hack at North Beach, in which Emily Forward’s body was found, was rented for a period of twelve months early in the present year by William Burgess, a taxi-driver, who paid the rent regularly up till about the middle of -May. The police bail a long interview with Burgess yesterday.
