DUNEDIN, June 3.

The Dunedin J.C. winter meeting opened in fine weather, with the track in good winter order. There was a large attendance. The tote handled £z0,430, compared with £18,598-)- on the first day last year, a Wednesday. Results:—

Trial Hurdles.—(s) Craigmore 1, (2) Hard Prince 2, (6) Royal Land 3. Eight lengths each way. Time 2.50.

Brighton Handicap.—(B) Quickform 1, (5) Carinthia 2, (I) Puff 3. AVon by three lengths; two lengths. Time 1.45)-. Birthday Handicap.—(3) Black Mint 1, (5) Queen Balboa 2, (6) Apache 3. Won by half a length; a short nock. Time 2.3 S 3-5.

Otago Steeples.—(2) The Babe 1, (5) Raimi 2, (3) Dubious 3. Won by six lengths; twelve lengths. Time 7.15 2-5.

Tradesmen’s Handicap.—(s) Taboo 1, (1) King Balboa 2, (8) Money Mine 3. Won by a. short length ; half a length. Time 1.17 1-5. Hunters’ Steeplechase.—(s) Captain Sarto 1, (8) Ramanawhiri 2, (1) Message Boy 3. Won by two lengths ; half a length. There were no casualties. Timo 5.4 G.

SECOND DAY’S RACES. 4' DUNEDIN, June 4. For the second day of the Dunedin J.C. races, there was fine weather, and a large attendance. The track was slightly better than on Saturday. The tote took £31,852 for the day compared with £35,988) on the holiday hist year. Results:— Silverstrenm Handicap.—(s) Solzia 1, (1) Malmsey 2, (3) Strathncvcr 3. Won by a good length ; a long neck. Time 1.30 2-5. Provincial Handicap.—(l) Celerity 1, (4) Apache 2, (G) Chickwheat 3. Time 2.10.

The Auckland Racing Club’s winter meeting was continued to-day in fine weather, with a large attendance. TJie tote handled £94,392, compared with £73,528 on the second day last, year, an increase of £20,864.

Geyserland was killed in jumping the fence on the hill in the Hunt C'luh Oup. Glendowie lowered the record for the Great 1 Northern Steeplechase by one second. Results:—
