"THE HONOUR SYSTEM ” —TO-NIGHT.
On Friday at the Princess Theatre a Master Picture will be presented starring Milton Sills, Miriam Cooper, Gladys Brockwell, and George "Walsh. Joe Stanton leaves home for the first time to take charge of a gold mine on the Mexican border. Helping him is Jack Taylor, who has successfully resisted tlio wiles of Trixie, a saloon girl, who with the aid of her partner, Three-Fingered Louis, hopes to rob the oliice. Jack is shot during a Mexican raid and Trixie turns for sympathy to Stanton, pretending she was giving up her old life. However, Stanton sees her one night going to the saloon with Louis. He follows them and a fight ensuas wherein Louis produces a knife. Stanton hits him on the head and lays him out. The lights go out and Louis is stabbed by an enemy. The knife disappears and Stanton is sentenced to a term of life imprisonment. During bis trial he is cared for by Sheriff "Wells and his daughter Edith. After two years in gaol under a brutal Warden, suffering all manner of hardships, the prisoners revolt and a number escape, Stanton among them, lie "meets the Sheriff who gives him a further opportunity to make a getaway. Returning and giving himself up, he is flogged and thrown into an underground dungeon. Prompted by Joe’s letter, the Governor investigates prison conditions in his State and has Stanton brought from the dungeon where he has almost lost his sight. "When the Governor brings Stanton in and shows his blindness and the weals on his back Harrington is hissed out of the building and the kind Sheriff is put in charge of the new prison where the men are treated as human beings.
