ENGLISH TEAM. SYDNEY, May 30
The English Rugby League team played the first match of its tour today against the South-west District at Cootamundra. The match was drawn, tlie scores being: England It; Southwest 14.
SEVEN-A-STDE TOURNAAI ENT. The Rugby Union meets to-night at 7.30 o’clock to make all arrangements for the seven-a-siclo tournament to bo held on Cass Square on Alonday, June 4th, this being the big attraction of the year for local Rugbyitos. The total number of players taking part for tho day will be 3uo all told and from the bantams up to tlie senior grade every game should be well worth the Is charged for admission. Patrons paying for admission on .Monday are reminded to secure their ticket and keep same as the ticket will lie the only entrance ticket that will lie issued and it will serve as a pass out as well so that patrons will have to show their ticket each time they require to enter the Square. The football authorities have been granted tho sole right to use Cass Square on .Monday, June 4th and tho admission fee fixed is Is with children under 14 sixpence.
The Rugby Union have not made any .charge for entries for the teams as the same method that- has acted successfully for the past two seasons cannot he improved, namely. that each play pays his entrance fee at the gate and this amount represents his nomination fee for the tournament. At tho Rugby Union meeting tonight tho prizes for each grade will be allotted and will be worthy of the occasion. The following grades have all received capital entries:—Senior. Junior. Third Grade, Schrimps and Bantams. The Referees Association will provide the referees for the day and all other arrangements will be finally arranged. Each team will be required to band into the Secretary of tlie Union the names of the teams before the drawtake ' splace.
