Said he to one of them, “My word, you’ve had a good season!” “Oh, I don’t know,” moaned the farmer, producing a fat roll of notes to pay for two medical comforts.
“.Splendid grass,” continued the man who wanted to ho cheerful. “Too bloomin’ much,” pursued • the farmer, “the stock can’t eat it.” “Tile rain came just when it was wanted,” pursued the optimist. “Yes. but when we get a wet winter it’s hound to he a late, droughty summer.” “You have done pretty well,” ventured the northerner. “I notice you have just bought another three hundred acres for cash,” “Yes,” sadly admitted tbe farmer, “you never know how it’s going to turn out.” “By jovc,” declared the mail from tbe north as they emerged into tbe street, “this is a fine new car of yours!” “Not bad,” groaned tbe farmer, “hut there’s something wrong with the liorn, find a bloke is always having to buy henzinc.”
