Whitsun holiday so far has been favoured with most pleasant weather. The roads and holiday' resorts aro thronged with pleasure seekers revelling in sunshine and warmth.
CYCLE ROAD RACE. PARTS. May 27
The Paris to Brussels cycle road race of 230 miles, was won by Rousxe, the Belgian champion. Frantz was second, and Opperman (Australia) was third. The time was 809 minutes.
COMMERCIAL. LONDON, -May 27. The Baltic Exchange closed on Saturday. There were no wheat sales.
PLAYING FIELDS IN BRITAIN, RUGBY, May 25.
The movement started by the. National Playing Fields Association for providing outdoor recreation facilities in thickly-populated areas has resulted in voluntary gifts of £330,000 and 400 acres of land, while the Ministry for Health has sanctioned loans by local authorities amounting to £300.000 for the acquisition of a further 1300 acres to he used as playing fields.

GAOL ESCAPEE SENTENCED. LONDON, May 28
“I am an example of the futility of a crooked life which does not pay,” said Guerin (cabled yesterday). Ho was sentenced to three months. Ho was found in a bedroom in a West End hotel.
