FIRE AT STAFFORD
CALEDONIAN HOTEL DESTROYED
A fire occurred at Stafford last evening at 5.50 o’clock, resulting in the complete destruction of the Caledonian Hotel together with all outbuildings and the contents. The fire broke out in the dining room where a lire had been burning in the fireplace all daw. The licensee. AH A. T. Alesservy and his wife were in the bar and Air Alesservy went to get his motor car to take a passenger to Goldsboro ugh and had brought lit to the front of the hotel when the alarm was’'given that the house was on fire. Tho flames spread with great rapidity and no water for coping with the outbreak being available the whole structure, and its contents were destroyed, not even the contents of the bar being saved.
The fire made a big blaze and was seen for miles round. The shop of Air B. Lyons a few yards further up the hill from the iiotel was not damaged.
The hotel and contents were insured for £350 in tho Atlas Office. No cause (is given as to how the outbreak occurred.
