The motion was moved and carried that the dub be known as the Hokitika Men’s Hockey Club and the membership fee was fixed at 5s for men and 2s 6d for youths under 18 years. .Matches are to he arranged between selected teams for practice, and later, inter-dub games with the Greymouth clubs. A nasty accident happened to Mr Rac Curtis, employed at the Blackwater sawmill. It appears that the unfortunate man was felling a. tree, and in grasping the axe to pull it out of the way, pulled the axe straight into his knee cap. He was brought to Kumara and attended to by Dr Booth, who ordered his removal to the Greymouth Hospital, where lie is reported to lie progressing favourably.

At the euchre evening at the Soldiers’ Hall last night there was a fair attendance, over fifty players participating. The prize winners proved to he Mrs Lukin, S. Davidson, Mrs Lyons and J. There are again complaints at the late running of the Greymouth-lloki-tika train service. For a lengthy period a praiseworthy effort was made to run successfully to time. It is very unsatisfactory that at the cold season of the year the train should bo running late. Yesterday was the through service, and time was lost even between Grey mouth and Hokitika, 1 taking over two hours to cover the- 24 miles. The public at this cud are long suffering and have not harrassed the Department, hut it is time the authorities moved in entering a protest which at least will ho brought to the notice of headquarters and so result in better train running if not a better service, so long overdue.
