COOK’S ATTITUDE.
(Australian Press Association.)
SYDNEY, Afav 22.
Air Tudehope, Secretary of the Alarinc Cooks’ Union, states that the Union is now going to endeavour t<? convene a conference with the shipowners. to discuss the proposed terms of settlement. Air Tudehope strongly defended the action of the cooks yesterday in refusing the mediation of the Australian and New Zealand Council of Trades’ Unions. He stated that the cooks do not recognise the hitter’s authority to intervene in tlie matter without the consent of the organisation directly concerned. He added that his Union intended to notify the shipowners that the Australian and New Zealand CounciK of Trades’ Unions was acting without the authority of the cooks, and that the latter were now going to attempt to discuss the question of the abolition of the roster system, together with the other terms.
