SYDNEY, May 10,

At tlie Royal Commission inquiring into civic affairs, M,r Siiand (counsel for the Commissioners) stated that he had boon instructed that money had been deposited in connection with a’ tender for other than that of the power house, but that it had not actually passed. Cross-examined by Mr Holman, counsel for Mr Alaling, Albert said that no one was ever present when lie banded over the money to Moling, and bo never got receipts, but lie always gave receipts to Buckle when lie received money to hand to Moling. He added he was too friendly with Maling to demand a receipt, and lie had never feared that there would ever bo any dispute over the money, as he had always trusted Maling. He did not at any time suspect that there- was anything wrong in the transactions. Questioned regarding tlie terms he was on with Miss Gordon, lie stated that lie was prepared to allow her to handle thousands sterling of the other man’s money. Albert said that he knew her to to he a good, honest girl, and she was always at liberty to act for him on his instructions from Melbourne.

In reply to a further question, Albert said that Miss Gordon was employed ns housekeeper by others, lout he had absolute confidence in her probity.
