News from 1 ndianppolis states that early returns from the Indiana primary voting indicate that Mr Hoover is leading (Senator Watson with at least double the number of votes, thus marking another important step in his battle to defeat his opponents for the Republican nomination. With this victory it appears that Air Hoover’s opponents have very little chance to prevent his nomination iby acclaim, hut in the event of their continuing to work against his, it is now quite evident that the opposition will he completely and quickly vanquished at the Convention. The voting returns were particularly heavy from the rural districts.

Therefore, a radical change in tlio Hoover situation ha.? occurred. It is now difficult to state exactly how .strong the anti-Hoover forces will appear at Kansas City.

It is understood that the New York State Republican Organisation, as tlio result of Air Hoover’s defeat at Indiana, has reaffirmed its intention of offering President Coolidge at the first ballot at Kansas City, unless the President makes it clear that be will not accept nomination.

Declaring that unless a substantial factor for peace intervenes immediately in China, war may ensue, involving the whole world. Representative Black has introduced in Congress a resolution directing Air Kellogg (United States Secretary) to endeavour to induce nil amicable adjustment of any difficulties existing between China and Japan.
