(Received this day at 9.(10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, April 20. At Griggs’ trial. Griggs gave evidence that he was a .Methodist .Minister at Omen, hut had never been fully ordained. Three months after marriage he and his wife seined to drift apart and he became acquainted with Lottie Condon, hut about live months elapsed, before they became friendly. Before his wile departed for Tasmania she (his wife) suggested to him that they should obtain a divorce, but he asked her to go to Tasmania for six months and during that time they would both think things over. His wife consented, adding that if she came hack, it would only he to collect her things, as she would never live with him again. (Biggs continued that while his wife was away lie became very fond of Lottie Condon and wished to marry her. Griggs concluded his evidence by replying to a question whether his wife drank milk, that siie never did, not even in tea. Ilis wife’s mother and several other witnesses then gave evidence that they had never known Airs Griggs to drink tea without milk. The evidence has concluded and counsel have commenced their address. Harold Charles Dodds, a business man at Seven Dills, who acts as postmaster. was found on his premises, apparently drugged, with two sates open, and the papers disordered. It is understood that nearly Clot) in notes and slumps, ol which about ,t'2-> belonged to the Rost Office, is missing.

Henry Charles Dodds to-day confessed that yesterday's apparent robbery at the Seven Hills Post Office was a lake. He was arrested and charged witli stealing two hundred sterling belonging to the Commonwealth. He was remanded till April 30. ■

FLOODS in BRISBANE. BRISBANE. April 20.
\.ll low-lying parts in Brisbane are now under water and Hood- are being experienced in all creeks and rivers of Darling Downs. At AA'urwick. Horace Barnett, while attempting to cross a creek was swept away and drowned. All creeks in Maleuy District are in high fio.nl and fears are entertained for the safety of the main traffic bridge in Conroy district. A heavy landslide in the F.sk district near Moure blocked the railway line and the creeks of Esk arc carrying a greater volume of water than in the 1893 Hoods. Stanley river at Roy'ton is IB.it. over the railway bridge. Brisbane river at Mumnnirba is 111 feet over the bridge and is vising two feet hourly.
