• GRKYMOUTH, April 17. At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday eases dealt with included.— language and mischief.

Henry Thomas Gibbons was charged with using obscene language in a public place on April 1). and with damsijrinfi the curtains of a motor car owned by James Brown, taxi proprietor. G reymoutli.

The Magistrate inflicted a line of Cl for using obscene language, and 10s for mischief, allowing 12s for witness’ expenses and court costs 10s. Defendant was also ordered to pay costs to the damage to the taxi. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

Cecil Allison Owen Jones, who was remanded last Wednesday on a charge of attempted suicide, to which be pleaded guilty, for medical examination, appeared this morning tor sentence. He was convicted and ordered to come ip) for sentence if called upon within 12 months. Costs amounting to 15s were allowed against him for bis keep whilst in the Greymoutli gaol. HOTELKEEPER TN TROUBLE. Patrick Keating, licensee of the Central Hotel, in Albert Street, was charged with having opened his hotel bar and exposed liqour for sale on Mai eh 30, and with selling liqour during prohibited hours on the same date. He was represented by Mr J. M. Hannan, who entered n plea of “guilty” to the charge of selling during .prohibited hours, (lie police withdrawing the other charges. John Selwyn Senior, about 22 years of age, was charged with having broken and entered the residence of John Henry Bumble, in Leonard Street, and stolen therefrom cash amounting to Llo ‘2s on the night of April 10.

Accused did not give evidence and pleaded guilty, lie was committed t‘> the Supreme Court for senl-eme, bail of £7)O, and two sure! ins of DJI each, which were forthcoming.
