ACCIDENT AT BACK CREEK

WASHED DOWN TAILRACE. An accident happened at Pack Creek this morning to Mr Charles Stoop, manager of Woodstock Sluicers. It appears Mr Stoop was at worl; in the claim when a falling stone struck him. and knocked him into the tail race. He was swept down the toilraie to the end. a distance of some (5011 or ititl feet, receiving considerable injury, lie was carried to the Forest Service hut. and a car was sent for. which took him to Westland Hospital. The injured man is a married man with eight children.

Oil enquiry at Westland Hospital wo learned from Dr Baird that the injured man was out about the scalp, and had received severe bruises to both arms, and also his head. He was suffering from concussion of the brain when admitted. and also from shock. llis present condition is as satisfactory as could be expected, and there is every prospect of Lis recovery.
