In the final of the 75 yards handicap at Ashburton Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's Annual Meeting to-day, AL I.eadhetter (Christchurch), from scratch equalled the Dominion record or 7 3-5 secs, tying for first place. In a later event he tore a muscle in his left groin, and received medical attention. OXFORD V. CAAIBRIDGE. J LONDON. March 24. At the Queen's Club inter-Varsity athletic sports, Cambridge beat Oxford by eight events to 3. The weather was showery. ’I here was a large attendance, including Air Baldwin, Prime Alinistor. The 100 yards was won by Kinkel (Cam.) with Smouha (Cam.) second. It was run in a downpour. The time was 10 1-10 secs. The mile race resulted: Green (Cam.) 1. O’Connor (Oxford) 2. Time 4.25 2-5. The 120yds Hurdles was won by Weight tmi n-Smith (Cam.), with l.iv-ingstone-Learmouth (Cam.) second. Time 15 2-5 secs, an inter-Varsity record. The New Zealander. Kalaugher (Oxford) was third. In the high jump, Rradbrooke and Gordon, both of Oxford. tied with sft Klins. In the long jump. Pomeroy (Cam.) won with 22ft -lilts, the Queenslander Harrison (Oxford) being second with 21 ft 11 Jins. 'I’ll" quarter mile resulted: Rittkei (Cam.) 1. Light-wood (Oxford) 2. Time 50 2-5 secs, lit the weight putting. I lowland (Cam.) won with 42ft IDius. Parker (Oxford) being second with loft 5 ins. In the pole jump Fattsi. of Oxford (American student) put up a new iuter-N arsity record of 12ft. McGill, of Oxford (abo an American) was second with lilt .tins. The 220 yds low hurdles resulted: Weight man-Smitli (Cam.) 1. I.iving-stoue-I.earmoiit h (Cain.) 2. lime 25 4-5 secs, equalling the inter-Varsity record. 11l the half mile Green (Cam.) beat Guttei'idgc (Cam.) by inches, in 2.14. The three miles race resulted: Edwards (Oxford) 1. Jcxsop (Cam.) 2. AVon by thirty yards. Time 15 mins 0 2-5 sees. LONDON. Alareh 25. At Ayr five nations cross-country race wa.s won by France 15 points, England 55, Scotland 104. Wales 1.0. Ireland 171), Ecclesley (England) was Ist. home in 52mins. 34 3-osecs
