1,000 FOWLS IN UPSET LORRY. LONDON, Jan. 12. A woman was badly injured, 50 fowls were killed, several escaped, and nearly 1.000 birds were thown into a struggling, clucking heap on the pavement when a lorry overturned in Wliite-ehnpel-road. E.. last night. The lorry was travelling towards London, and when the driver tried to avoid knocking a woman down the vehicle skidded, struck the kerbstone, and fell against a post-box. There were nearly 10 crates ot fowfs oil the lorry and most of them were scattered across the pathway. Several were jammed between the post-box and the lorry and the fowls were crushed. One crate fell on Mrs Fannie Marks, aged 70, injuring her head and breakins her collar-bone. The frightened birds clucked and fought in a frenzy. Some escaped and flapped and ran" along the road. A 1 crowd of about 500 people gathered and helped to catch the running birds and to restore the others to the lorry, which was righted. Another lorry towed it away with the birds still clucking and fighting.
