The statistics showed that the trade of the overseas Empire had expanded considerably in recent years, both as regards imports and exports, and the tendency had been for a greater proportion of British exports to go to Empire destinations. "While America and Germany might greatly increase their output of manufactured goods, the British Empire had the advantage in raw materials, which all the world needs. _______
