A sub committee of the Senate and Inter-State Commerce Committee, which recently toured the regions where the coal strikes have been in progress for over a. year, have published their report, which declares that the conditions in central Pennsylvania amount to a "reign of terror.” The report is severely critical of the housing conditions, and tells of shooting into school-houses, immorality and brutality by strike breakers, and of police maintained by operators. Prohibition and Public Morals, states that the annual death rate throughout the United States shows a remarkable decrease since prohibition came into force.
