A eomnlete agreement on the points outstanding, wages and the term of the award, was reached to-day, in the carpenters' and joiners’ applieat ion in the Conciliation Council for a new Dominion award. The employer’s refused to sanction any increase in wages, un the principle that other trades would also apply for increases.
It was finally deeiderl that the present rates of pay be adhered to, and that the term of the award he two years from the termination of lire late award.
DRUNKEN DRIVER GAOLED. TIMA I! U. March 7. A.t the Magistrate’s Court to-day, the Magistrate sentenced a farmer to lourteeii days for being found drunk in charge of a ear. The latter had run into a bridge, and the driver was found drunk and fast asleep in it. In addition to imprisonment, defendant's present license was cancelled. and he was prohibited from getting another for two years.

The Police Court was crowded this morning, when Allan George Nurgrove. aged L’7, of Sussex -Street, Grey Lynn, was charged hetore Mr .McKean, S.M.. that h" did at. New Lynn on March 711 1 murder Christina Norgrove. Accused entered the dock quite calm and heal'd the reading of the charge with down rast eves. He was remanded until ..arch 15th. As he was about to enter the police van his brother-in-law stepped forward and made a frantic attempt to kiss him !>irt was restrained by the police escort.

The Premier who bus now completed his Otago Central tour, stated at Queenstown last evening that the preliminary work in the establishment ol :i new .scheme of rural intermediate credits bad been completed, anil the Hoard would shortly be in a position to consider applications and grant loans, file Central Board Imd held its initial meeting and the establishment of district boards was now proceeding.
Last week’s Gazette (ontained a list of Rural Intermediate Credit districts ((instituting the Dominion, together with the names of District Intermediate Credits Inspectors and particulars o; headquarters. As this information seems to have escaped notice in the press it may lie said that districts generally corresponded with the Public Trust Districts and District Public Trustees are the District Credits Supervisors for purposes of the Act. Mr Coates continued that application forms and a summary of the information for intending borrowers had been made available by the Commissioner at every branch of the Public '1 rust ( >ifi< e, and although a period may elapse before the establishment of District Boards is complete, applications will be accepted at once from intending borrowers, in order to ensure that necessary prelim-
inary consideration is given at the earliest opportunity, all applicants who have written to the Commissioner direct, are advised to get in touch with Iho nearest District Supervisor at once.

Burglars visited P. Ring’s tobacconist shop, 517, Colombo St. last night j and took cigarettes, tobacco and fancy goods valued at C-10. Entrance was onined by a back door leading into Aloorbouse Avenue, a jemmy being used. The door was reinforced with iron I and was fitted with a lock, two bolts | and an iron bar. Marks from the top the bottom were evidence of the hard task the intruders had. A FIRE OUTBREAK. AUCKLAND, March S. A prompt notification to the Fire Brigade saved the citv from a big Maze at six o’clock this morning. The outbreak was in a factory of F. M. King. T.td. wholesale clothing manufacturers. Albert Street. According to Supt. AVilson. the fire was caused l>v rats nibbling wax matches. A box was left in the workroom where it originated. Although confined to the shelves where it originated a good deal of damage was done to expensive dress materials, ladies’ overcoats and costumes. mostly samples.
