Grimmett and Blackie were opening bowlers, and after a couple of overs McNameo replaced Grimmett who was transferred to the north end in place of Blackic. The score at noon was -12 runs for 1 wicket. Gregory (not out) 15, Jacobs (not out) 18, .extras G. The batsmen continued to play bright cricket, but at 59 Gregory was clean bowled by MeXamee, his own total being 23. Page opened his account by driving Grimmett for two. In the same bowler’s next over he scored two and four but the third ball lie mishit and Woodfull took a simple catch. 72—3—9. Newman was next. He nearly returned the first ball to Grimmett’s hand. A little later Jacobs delighted the crowd by hitting Grimmett on the embankment for six. The total mounted rapidly and at 98 Oxenham replaced .MeXamee...His first over was a maiden. Jacobs with a boundary oil Grimmett brought the century up after ninety minutes. Oxenham’s bowling was troubling the batsmen. Jacobs at 52 gave a chance in the deep field but Jackson dropped it. Newman was badly beaten by Grimmett. the ball taking his off pill. Ihe partnership had added G 8 runs. Nixon was next, but Jacobs did not last long being well caught by Schneider on the boundary otf Grimmett. The batsman hail been in 100 minutes. 1 lI—S—GO.
