GREY JUBILEE
Fine weather prevails lor the Grey Jubilee functions at Greymouth today. There is a very large attendance of visitors from all parts of New Zealand for the special occasion, including the Prime Minister. Last night the Jubilee Ball, held under the auspices of the t nit-e.l (lull, drew a crowd of over 699 to the Greymouth Trotting Club’s dance room in the new grandstand at the Park. Included among those present were the Rt. Hon J. G. Coates and Mrs Coates. The room was beautifully decorated and an enjoyable evening was spout by all present. To-day the main functions of the celebrations are taking place. At 1.45 p.m. a monster blast of -1 tons of powder was fired in Oobden quarry to bring down a fall of stone for the harbour works. The monster procession then took place to Victoria Park, a large number participating and a very attractive display was made. To-morrow is Children's Day when schools excursions from this district take place, special arrangements being made for the enjoyment of the young people, including a visit of inspection of 11.M.5. Laburnum, now alongside the wharf at Greymouth.
