SERIOUS MOTOR ACCIDENT
.MOTHER, SON AND DAUGHTER KILLED. By 'Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright. BLENHEIM, Feb. *27. A fatal accident on the BlenlieimNelson road occurred about eleven last night near Ruapeka about lour miles on the Nelson side of Havelock, at n spot where several accidents have happened in recent years. The car was driven by James Hickey, accompanied by his wife, Jessie Hickey, daughter Lily ten years, son Maurice three, and lad named Mervyn Stewart 13, and a man named Bernard. West, all of Nelson, who had been visiting Blenheim for the weekend, was proceeding to Nelson. Just after passing a car driven by Airs H. White, Hickey’s car plunged down a 30 feet bank into 15 loot of water. Mrs White noticed nothing wrong but Charlie Manic, of llui Valley who was motoring immediately behind Hickey saw the accident and rendered assistance. All but Mrs Hickey and the son and daughter managed to get free of the car. Tlie lad Stewart was sent to the hospital with injured shoulders and severe shock. "bile three are dead. The bodies ol Airs Hickey and Lily Hickey were recovered from the submerged car at eight this morning. Maurice Hickey’s body being found three hours later.
