The results were: St. Kit da 144 1 ; Queen Alexandra’s Own (Wanganui) 141 2, Kaikorai 137 .3; Greymouth 135 4; Woolston 132 5; Wellington Central Mission 108 6. To-day’s session at the Band Contest were largely attended, and the financial success of the contest is now assured. Results.— Tenor Horn (26 competitors): AY. Smith (St. Kildu) 96, 1; J. Henderson (Greymouth) 93, 2 ; L. Jacobs (Queen Own) 92, 3.

JUDGE’S COMMENT. CHRISTCHURCH, Fob. 23. rp The fourth hymn test was a splendid performance, and wonderfully received by the audience. The judge remarked on the splendid playing of the flreymouth Band, and referred to their work as magnificent, and the tone as splendid, but, he said, the organ effect did not appeal to him. Henderson, in getting second in the horn solo, put up a fine performance, ns likewise did Vincent, second in toe cornet solo.

CHET STC'H F R CH, Feb. 24. The soprano solo and competition for hoys under seventeen (any instrument except cornet) was decided at the Band Contest this morning. Sopranos were of the usual high standard, Webb v (Queen Alexandria’s Own) just standing clear for artistic rendering. The toys’ section was remarkably fine. The trombone performance “Crystal Palace” by the winner, E. G. Williams (Woolston) was of outstanding character. Williams is only ‘lo. Results—Soprano, E. Webb (Queen 'Alexandria’s Own) 94 1; T. McLean „ (St. Kilda) 92 2. ~ Boys’—E. G. Williams (Woolston) 97 1, L. Carruthers (Creymouth) and H. Crisp (4th, Cadets) equal 96 2.
