One plane fell in the main thoroughfare of Macon (Georgia) killed the two fliers and one pedestrian and injured several others slightly. A heavy wind blew the second plane against a tower in Columbia, (South Carolina), and two youth passengers were burned to death, but the pilot was tossed clear of the wreckage and escaped uninjured. The Pan-American Conference shelved the question of intervention in the belief that any further discussion would do more harm than good. It was also decided that jurists representing American Republics meet in Washington within the next year for the purpose of drafting an arbitration convention.
