There was a surprising incident at the resumption of the Krantz ease, when the prosecution declared it would withdraw the murder charge and substitute manslaughter. The bench granted the withdrawal which meant liberating him from custody pending the Bearing of the lesser charge. The decision transformed Krauts, who appar- . ently did not understand. He had been hanging limply over' the dock in exhaustion and dejection. He straightened up, smiled and made a bolt for the door. The judge had to remind him that the lesser charge was’~ riot finished.
