FIVE-DAY WEEK.
CHICAGO. Jan. 27. i he building industry Tins started the experiment of a live-day week, and the Plasterers’ Union has signed a contract for a three months’ trial of it lad ween employers and lathers, adopting a 10hour, instead ol a -11-hour, week. Reside the general economic proposition, robbers played a part in the decision. Twelve large building and contracting linns have had their payrolls robbed within six months, and they wished to change their methods, so as to pay by cheque. Ihe unions demand currency, and a compromise provides that the cheque shall be issued mi Friday night, which the worker can cash during his Saturday holiday.
