Mr Bruce, referring to the proposed conference to bring about peace in industry, said there were extremists in the unionists and in employers organisations who would react on one another at the conference, and destroy its chance of success. He desired to keep these elemnts on both sides, out of the conference, which he wanted to be between men of vision, understanding and sympathy, who bad the confidence of their respective sections, and. more particularly, of the whole community. Such a conference would wipe out mistrust and suspicon on both sides, and pave the way to a more amicable discussion between the delegates ol the employers and employees. lie would call the conference not as a party leader but as Prime Minister.
