The second day of the Gisborne Racing Club’s summer meeting was held in ideal weather before a large attendance. The course was very fast. The tote investments amounted to
£13,164 against £13.645 on the corresponding day last year, a decrease of £4Bl. For the two days, the investments amounted to £23,586. compared with £25,006 last year, a decrease of £1420.
Second Handicap Hurdles —(1) Garzoui 1, (2) Comedy Prince 2. The only starters. Won by five lengths. Time 3.16. Juvenile Handicap—(l) Tnkn Tamil 1, Kinibo 2. (6) Whakaari 3. Don by four lengths; four lengths. Time 1.2 4-5. Tarnheru Hack Handicap—fl) Sandburr 1, (3) Royal Time 2, (4) Jen 3. Won hv two lengths ; a neck. I into 1.42 3-5. Trial Handicap—(l) King Manga and (2) Dreamy a dead heat 1, (5) Fall o’ the Year 3. The third horse was a head away. Time 1.15 3-5. Gisborne Gold Cup—(2) Atereria 1. (6) 'Butterscotch 2. Awapuni Hack Handicap—(l) King Willonyx 1. (4) Tan 2, (3) Rapiata 3. Won by two lengths; three lengths. Time 1.15. Bright Memorial Handicap—(3) Epistle 1, (1) Superb King 2, (1) Inner Harbour 3. Won by two lengths; three lengths. Time 1.14. EG MONT RACES. HAWERA, Feb. 4. The Egmont Racing Club’s summer meeting concluded in ideal weather before a big attendance to-day. The track was hard and fast, though a 000(1 sward of grass afforded a cushion for the runners. The tote, handled £22,121 for the day, a decrease of £3635 compared with the corresponding day last season. The amount for the two days, £44,713 as compared with £ 14,5585 last year showed an increase of £1545In the Okaiawa Hurdles, Flowing Bowl, crashed at the last fence, the rider, P. Holman, sustaining injuries to the right hip possibly a fracture, and lie was taken to the hospital lor an X-ray examination.
