The ascent was made from tiro Hooker Valley, and occupied 10 hours The two climbers returned to The Hermitage on Wednesday. The name of a prominent Christchurch solicitor, Mr Roy Twynehnin. is 'coupled with an adventurous and arduous journey which was accomplished last Monday. Mr Twyneham wot out from the Waiho Gorge on the West Coast and made a traverse from the head of the Franz Josef Glacier over the Graham Saddle, and from there topped the Minnrettes, completing a strenuous trip by a descent of the Tasman Valley and on to The Hermitage. Broken ice made fast time impossible, and added a risk that made the journey the more venturesome. In addition to these feats, a number of crossings have been made on the Copeland Pass and the Graham Saddle. Mr Auburn, of Auckland, left Tire Hermitage on Tuesday in an endeavour to reach the summit of Mount Cook, but word has not yet heen received of his success qr otherwise.
