The existence of such organiations ns Chambers of Commerce has a great restraining influence upon Government and local authorities when they explore business channels from which to draw fresh revenues or upon which greater restrictions can lie placed in the interest of perhaps nil organised section of the people of the country.—Annual Report, Wellington Chamber of Commerce.
