GENERAL CABLES
(From yesterday’s second edition.) FORGED DOCUMENTS. WASHINGTON, Jan. 8. Miguel Avila, a -Mexican half-breed gentleman who furnished Hearst with spurious documents designed to show Calles was waging Bolshevik war against United States of America, was charged with forging these documents himself. When the Senate Investigatory Committee completed their inquiry the Committee exonerated as falsely charged everyone named in the Flcarst documents and will present the finding apportioning the blame as amongst Hearst himself, his detective and editors, who handled the story that in a few days brought United States and Mexico unpleasantly near war. The crowning evidence that forgery had been committed came when authentic State papers written and signed by Calles and other Mexicans, credited with having written the Hearst documents, were produced before the Committee.
