PRIEST DROWNED
TRAGEDY AT AYKSTPORT’. By Telegraph—Per Press Association. AYKSTPORT, Jan. 3. Rev. Father Bowe went for a bathe at North Beach, and apparently he had a heart attack while in the water, and passed away. His body was noticed floating out some distance from the
shore, and when it was recovered it was found that he was dead. The deceased was a native of Gothohawn, Johnston. Kilkenny, Ireland, and was about 50 years of age. He was educated at St. Kieron’s College, Kilkenny, and was ordained by Dr Bvownrigg. Bishop of Ossory. He arrived in New Zealand in 1904, in company with Father Kelly (AYellington South), and held curacies in Hawera and Palmerston North. His parochial ability was earlv recognised, anil he was promoted successively to Carterton, Daiinevirke, and AA’ellington (St. Joseph’s) as Administrator to Archbishop 0 Shea. Finally he came to AYestport, where his good work was universally recognised.
ANOTHER PRIEST KILLED. ROTORUA. Jan. 3. This morning, a Siddlcy car, owned and driven by Air AA . AA isoman, solicitor, of Auckland, and occupied by Father Krevmborg, Parish Priest of Rotorua, Doan A an Dyke, Matk Hamson. solicitor, and his son, was eu route from Rotorua to AA’liarepaina on the Taupo Road, at the twenty-eight mile peg. a tyre burst, and the car overturned. Father Krevmborg was thrown against the shield dying almost immediately. Dean Van Dyke was severely bruised and shaken. Mr AVisemnn is suffering from minor shock, and Mr Hampson and his son were both injured.
