MR G. K. SINCLAIR FAREWELLED.

A POPULAR HEADMASTER. (Waikato Times). At the Hamilton West School hist week over 500 primary pupils were dismissed for the year, hut the ceremony took on a wider nsjx'ct. inasmuch as the headmaster (Mr G. K. Sinclair) was retiring from the teaching profession, saying farewell to the school with regret. He received quite a minibor of presentations. the HEADMASTER’S REVIEW.

An epidemic of mumps and measles, the most prolonged and widespread he had experienced, affected the attendance during the year, stated Mi Sinclair (the headmaster) in a review of the school work. Notwithstanding that, however, the results of the annual examination were on a par wdh previous years. Out of a roll of 5-9 only 16 failed to gain promotion. At the proficiency examination 50 pupils were presented and 48 passed, one obtaining competency and one endorsed comitotency. was distributed in prizes, compared with £l3 last/year.

At the Winter Show competitions, proceeded Air Sinclair. the senior girls canto first and the boys second m physical drill. The senior choir ol forty voices won the Parker Hill Cup. The school had won that cup three times during the last four years. In the swimming competitions the hoys wore runners-up for the How den Shield. Alarist being first. and the girls woik- the cup presented by the Hamilton Ladies’ Swimming Club. The pupils had entered heartily into the Auckland Savings Bank fund, started in May last. The 29 payments amounted to £ll4. while othcis f posited in the Post Office Savings Bank, one pupil having £6O n> ll,s account. . , In conclusion. Mr Sinclair thanked the staff for their hearty co-operation in all matters appertaining t.o the welfare of the school.
