(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) AN INQUEST. PAL.MKRSTON N.. Dec. 28. An enquiry into the circumstances .surrounding the death of Young Foo, a Chinaman, aged 71, who died at Palmerston North Hospital as the result of injuries received through being knocked down h.v a motor cycle at Oliau on December 18th, the evidence of the cyclists showed that deceased, when the cycle was approaching started to run across the road, hesitated and was struck, sustaining fatal head injuries. A companion of the Chinaman denied that deceased left his side of the road. Ho said the cyclist did not swerve nor sound his horn. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence. He said he did not intend to comment on other evidence, which was conflicting.
MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED. TAUAfARANUI. Dec. 28. Roy Grubnor, a motor cyclist collided with a car driven by H. Simpson at Fanthorpe’s corner. Grubnor sustained a compound fracture of the leg. He was hospitalled. HOUSE BURNT. TAUAIARANUI, Dec. 28. A fire at Afanuiiui last night destroyed a six-roomed liou.se owned and occupied by Cliff Wilson. The insurance is unavailable. YOUNG WOAIAN DROWNED. NEW PLY .MOUTH. Dec. 28. Florence llinchman. single, twentyone, was drowned on Tuesday evening when bathing near the hare of Pantutu. Two young hoys who were also bathing left the water and proceeded to dress. They then missed the girl, hut, the accident was not reported to the police till this morning. A search is now being made for the body.

McNieoll. trustee of the Tasman flight fund, states it was the intention of the aviators when they left this country to endeavour to strike the New Zealand coast at New Plymouth, taking Mount Egniont as their landmark. A WEEK END BLAZE. DANNEVIRKK. Dec. 28. During the week-end a blaze at Kaitepeka destroyed > store and dwelling occupied by J. P, Kapoor Brothers. The contents were a total less. There was no water supply available. The building and store were insured for £450.
