EVERYBODYS' PICTURES “ TUK DESERT’S TOLL” . SATURDAY. “ The Desert’s Toll.” the adventure epic starring Francis McDonald, is the current Metro-Coldwyn--Mayer production at the Princess Theatre on Saturday, gives lovers of this type of film thrills galore and is a most fascinating story, very ably interpreted. -McDonald has taken a hold upon the public fancy, with his work in “ The Desert’s Toll.” In this picture he appears to tremendous advantage and will soon he rated as one of the screen’s most popular romantic heroes. He is a very superb horseman, and his tricks are very original. He sits a horse like a Cossack, and seems utterly fearless, ns evidenced by the many rides over what appear impassable and i inpossible trails. Francis McDonald does not need a boulevard for his morning canter. He is a virile, he-man type, at the same time possessing all the niceties and manners of a- cultured gentleman. The combination is well nigh irresistible. Kathleen Key is attractively cast as the heroine, and Tom Santschi, as the cold-blooded outlaw chief, is entirely adequate. Others in the notable cast are Anna May Wong, who portrays a charming Indian girl ; Big Tree, well known Indian actor, Lou Meehan and Quinn Williams. A topical and comedy complete the display.
