(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)TE AWAAIUTU, Dec. 17. The amateur lightweight wrestling championship of the Dominion was decided last night at a tournament conducted by the Young Men’s Institute. There were ten competitors, including C. E. McDonald (Raetihi), the present champion, hut lie was defeated in the first round bv Tim Wenliam (Te Awamutu). The finalists were T. Wenliam and T. Tonner, of Turnkina. Each registered a fall, but Tonner secured tlie championship on points. It was a well-earned victory. The decisions ol the referee, Tennant Colledge, were well received. The special bout between W. Bay no (Te Awnmutu) present lightweight champion, and V . V ills (Auckland) was fast and exciting, but Bayne secured two clean falls in four minutes.
